According to him, these achievements demonstrate that marginal field assets can be successfully transformed into commercially viable operations through disciplined execution, sound technical planning, and strategic investment.He encouraged both operators and the Commission to study these success stories to understand the critical factors behind their achievements and replicate those lessons across the industry.Highlighting Ingentia's own growth journey, he revealed that the company is currently producing approximately&nbsp;2,500 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and is on track to announce production of&nbsp;6,000 bopd in the coming month, representing another significant milestone in the company's development programme.Speaking on industry performance measurement, he proposed that once key performance indicators are established, the Commission should consistently monitor and publish them. But Geophysics fascinated me the most because it connects science, technology, and real-world applications.Pursuing geophysics wasn’t without challenges. My parents questioned why I chose a male-dominated field, but that only fueled my determination. I’ve always believed passion and skill—not gender—should define a career, and I was determined to forge my own path in a field that excites and challenges me.Lessons Learned Along the Way One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of “doing the work”. I knew that to create a better future, I had to excel in my studies, so I committed to it and earned a second-class upper degree. Another critical lesson is the power of self-confidence and determination. Confidence can break through barriers—whether financial, social, or gender-related. When paired with determination, it becomes a driving force for success.I wasn’t always confident. As a child, I was timid, influenced by a strict upbringing that emphasized discipline, but that experience also taught me independence. I learned not to seek validation but to set my own goals and work toward them. Over time, this mindset helped me step into leadership roles in my career, and in 2014/2015, I became the first female Vice President of NAPE. Growing up, I saw firsthand what it meant to strive for a better life and that experience instilled in me a relentless drive for excellence, pushing me to never settle for less than I’m capable of achieving.The Future of Nigeria’s Energy Landscape and Ingentia Energies’ Initiatives The key to addressing the challenges associated with energy resources lies in its effective management. <ul><li style="text-align:justify;">Can we have an insight into your background?</li></ul>I studied Applied Geophysics at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and later earned a master’s degree in the same course from the University of Lagos. I started my career with Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, which gave me my first hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry.From there, I have been fortunate to take on leadership roles in different organizations, including Centrica Resources (British Gas), Peak Petroleum, Degeconek Consulting, and Asharami Energy, which is the upstream arm of Sahara Group.At Asharami, I led the team that successfully delivered first oil in record time, which was a really rewarding experience. Currently, I am the MD/CEO of Ingentia Energies Limited, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company.Beyond the technical work, I am passionate about leading with integrity and professionalism. As the President-elect of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, NAPE, I do my best to use my journey to inspire younger professionals, who want to make an impact in the industry.<ul><li style="text-align:justify;">You studied Applied Geophysics, what motivated your choice of the course?</li></ul>I have always been passionate about science. Their guidance has truly shaped my career, and I am deeply grateful for their support.<ul><li style="text-align:justify;">What keeps you motivated, even when the journey gets tough?</li></ul>What keeps me going is the belief that every challenge carries an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to make a difference. I am driven by a sense of purpose: knowing that my work impacts not just the company, but the people, communities, and future generations we serve.I draw strength from my faith in God, from the support of those around me, and from the responsibility to pave the way for others, especially young professionals looking up and seeing what is possible. That is what inspires me to keep pushing forward, no matter how hard it gets.<ul><li style="text-align:justify;">Can you relate some memorable experiences that you’ve had in the course of your career?</li></ul>There are some experiences that have stayed with me because they made all the years of study, hard work, and extra effort truly feel worth it. One I’m especially proud of is when my team and I delivered a five-year work program in less than three years, it showed what’s possible when people are dedicated and focused.Another was in 2016, when oil prices fell to $30 and many companies were downsizing. It was a difficult time, but we found creative ways to protect jobs. Under my leadership as the MD, we successfully reduced the company’s overhead by 52% without laying off any staff.For me, that was more than just a business decision, it was about protecting livelihoods and standing by valued and committed staff when it mattered most.<ul><li style="text-align:justify;">What have been your achievements as the MD of Ingentia Energies?</li></ul>One of the achievements I am most proud of as the MD of Ingentia Energies is leading our small but dedicated team to attain first oil in record time, this was no small feat. We worked with limited resources and funding, but through teamwork, innovation, and sheer determination, we achieved what many thought would take longer.Another thing I am proud of is how intentional we have been about involving the communities around our field. We have made it a priority to hire locally, not just for full-time roles but also through internships, so young people in the community we operate can get real experience and feel a sense of ownership in what we’re building.We have also ensured that some of the services we carry out on the field are handled by contractors from the host communities. It is important to me that as we grow, the people around us grow too. I want them to be part of the journey, not just observing from the sidelines.Beyond that, I have worked hard with my team to keep our operations steady and consistent. We have been able to maintain regular oil production and evacuation, which has not always been easy, but it is something we have been very deliberate about.For me, it is not just about hitting numbers. It is about building a company that adds real value, both in the industry and in the lives of the people around us.<ul><li style="text-align:justify;">What are your aspirations for the company?</li></ul>My biggest aspiration is for Ingentia Energies to be known not just as another player in oil and gas, but as a company that truly does things differently, with integrity, safety, and care at the core. I want us to be a model for how energy companies can operate responsibly, without cutting corners or compromising people and the environment.We are in an industry that is often seen as rigid or slow to evolve, but I believe we can change that narrative. I want to see us embrace smarter technologies, build strong local partnerships, and leave a positive footprint in the communities where we work, not just in words, but in real, tangible ways.At the heart of it, my hope is that everything we do creates lasting value for our people, our partners, and Nigeria as a whole. If in a few years people can point to Ingentia and say, “They got it right,” then I will know we have done our job.&nbsp;

The Nigerian Geoscientist Olajumoke Ajayi has been named the Chief Executive Officer of Ingentia Energies Limited (IEL), a newly formed independent exploration and production company. She was, until September 2022, the Managing Director of Asharami Energy, the upstream arm of Sahara Group, an energy conglomerate that claims operations in over 38 countires. Ingentia Energies Limited is the consortium of five companies that hold equities in Egbolom field, one of the assets offered in the 2020 Nigerian Marginal field bid round (MFBR)&nbsp;Olajumoke led Asharami Energy’s operations across Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast. She is one of a handful of females Managing Directors, especially with technical background, running E&amp;P companies that actively operated in the Nigerian upstream industry.Ajayi holds a Bachelor’s and a Master of Science degree in Applied Geophysics and started her career with Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (ExxonMobil). She also worked in Degeconek Consulting, Peak Petroleum Limited and Centrica Resourced Nig. Ltd (British Gas).“Having gathered technical experience in 2D/3D Seismic acquisition &amp; processing, land and onshore seismic data interpretation, drilling and production. Olajumoke certainly has a full grasp of the entire industry operations”, according to a citation by the Energy Council, an energy investment networking platform. “She has shown a tremendous capacity for leadership, spearheading the exploration team that successfully drilled and delivered Asharami Energy’s first three wells” the citation notes.A member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologist (AAPG) and a past Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorations (NAPE), her primary job is to take the Egbolom field to first oil as early as it is technically possible.

CEO appointed to drive the vision of Ingentia Energies Limited

Following a successful bid for the Egbolom marginal field (OML23) during the 2020 marginal field bid round, the Federal Government of Nigeria granted SunTrust Oil Company Nigeria Limited(now SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited), Petrogas Energy Trade W.A. Limited, Somora GTP Limited, Moore Oil Exploration and Production Nig. Limited and Genesis Hydrocarbons Limited participating interest in PPL 202&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/dvtibors8/image/upload/v1704969839/image_986eee5ae1.png" alt="Map of oilfield"></figure>Further to the directive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission to incorporate a special purpose vehicle to operate the Egbolom field, the licencees have jointly incorporated Ingentia Energies Limited (“IEL”); each licencee’s shareholding in IEL corresponding with its participating interest in PPL 202.The Egbolom field (PPL 202), formerly situated in OML 23, was discovered in 1982 by Shell. It is an onshore (swamp) marginal field located in the Central Niger Delta Sedimentary Basin, 12km from the Ogbele terminal and about 18km north-east of the Soku Field, operated by Shell.Egbolom has an Estimated Ultimate Recoverable (2P) Reserves of about 86 million barrels and STOIIP (2P) of 219.8 million barrels. The Egbolom Discovery consists of two wells, Egbolom-1, a vertical well drilled in March 1982 to a total depth of 11,118 ft MD and Egbolom-2 drilled in August 1986 approximately 2.1 km north-west of Egbolom-1 to depth of 12,390 ft MD. The wells encountered stacked sand and shale intervals of the Miocene Agbada Formation. The regional source rock is the underlying Akata shale.Egbolom Field development plan has commenced, but a phased approach, driven by strong commercials would determine further development. In the short term, processed crude will be trucked from Egbolom field to a nearby facility. Long term transport would be via pipeline.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has successfully overseen the conversion of Petroleum Prospecting Licence (PPL) 202 to Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 66, a landmark achievement that reinforces Nigeria’s standing as a prime destination for both local and international oil and gas investors.This milestone not only signifies the successful transition of a key asset but also highlights the transformative potential of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.The Commission’s Chief Executive (CCE), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, made these remarks on Friday at the Signing Ceremony of Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 66 between lngentia Energies and its shareholders in Abuja.Describing the event as a significant step in the implementation of the PIA, the CCE explained that the signing of PML 66 represents the first-ever conversion of a PPL to a PML from the 2020 Marginal Field Bid Round.The holders of PPL 202 are Suntrust Oil Company Nigeria Limited, Petrogas Energy Trade W.A Ltd, Somora GTP Limited, Moore Oil Exploration &amp; Production Nig Ltd, and Genesis Hydrocarbons Limited.Engr. Komolafe remarked, “This milestone achievement follows the successful commercial discovery of hydrocarbons in the field and the subsequent conversion of the asset in accordance with Section 81(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act. This development clearly demonstrates the value of the bid round and the resilience of our upstream sector.”“The conversion of PPL 202 to PML 66 further reflects the hard work and determination of the licensees, as well as the guidance provided by this Commission as a business enabler.
