The Mechanical Technologist role at Ingentia Energies Limited is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and reliability of mechanical equipment and production facilities within the company’s oil and gas operations. The successful candidate will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshoot mechanical issues, monitor equipment performance, and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards. The role also involves coordinating with contractors and vendors, supporting equipment integrity assessments, and contributing to operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, generators, pipelines, valves, separators, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for field equipment and production facilities.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and production optimization.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical failures and recurring equipment issues.
  • Manage spare parts, maintenance materials, and equipment inventory to ensure operational availability.
  • Participate in the design, installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrade of mechanical systems and production facilities.
  • Review engineering drawings, datasheets, technical specifications, and maintenance procedures for compliance and technical adequacy.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers during project execution, equipment servicing, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with applicable API, ASME, ANSI, ISO, and company engineering standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections, condition monitoring, and integrity assessments of pipelines, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, inspection reports, and failure analysis documentation while supporting risk assessments, HAZOPs, and reliability studies.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, environmental regulations, and safe work practices through participation in audits, investigations, and safety improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification, preferably an MBA or a relevant Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline, is an added advantage.
  • Professional membership, e.g., Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN).
  • A minimum of 5 – 7 years cognate experience is required.
