The role will be responsible for managing the entire process of forecasting, reporting, planning, and budgeting across the company while ensuring that all departments comply with the approved budgeting regulations. The role is also responsible for preparing reports in adherence to procedures and reporting standards

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the planning and preparation of IEL’s annual budget
  • Prepare and get approval for the various AFEs
  • Manages the issuance, monitoring, and compliance of AFE
  • Monitor Cash Call preparation & authorization
  • Oversee the preparation of the actual monthly and quarterly spend analysis compared to the budget
  • Prepare monthly JV billing reports and the company’s performance dashboard
  • Prepares the monthly, quarterly, and yearly operating expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditure Performance review files with JV Partners.
  • Prepare Cost Performance Reports and JV Partners' Accounts for quarterly, half-yearly, and annual reconciliation.
  • Monitor & Reconcile JV Partners Payables & Receivables.
  • Provide Requisite Input/Ensure compliance with NUPRC Requirements & All Other JV Finance Related Regulatory deliverables.
  • Coordinate and prepare revised budget when necessary
  • Communicate the approved budgets with all departments effectively
  • Monitor the annual budgets for all Departments in conjunction with the relevant Heads of Departments
  • Ensure agreed strategic deliverables are tied into the yearly budget
  • Ensure cost control is within the approved yearly budget/AFE.
  • Support the preparation of a long-term financial plan in line with the business strategic map and initiatives
  • Review budget estimates from all the departments of the organization and critically examine them for correctness, accuracy, and completeness before forwarding them to the Head of Finance for approval
  • Support the Head of Finance in formulating and maintaining a Budgeting and planning framework and related policies and procedures that are responsive to strategies and objectives, and aligned with relevant regulatory requirements and leading practices
  • Ensure that financial operations are within the agreed budget
  • Lead the development and implementation of budgetary policy/framework, procedures, and related budgetary templates
  • Work closely with the various Heads of Departments to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the budgeting exercise and processes
  • Oversee the consolidation of annual budgets and forecasts for all departments, including projects under development
  • Prepare and spend the quarterly analysis and latest estimate forecast for the rolling operating plan
  • Communicate the approved and agreed budgets with all concerned departments.
  • Drive and oversee the development and monitoring of annual budgets for all Departments in conjunction with the relevant Heads of Departments
  • Develop and enhance budgeting and forecasting techniques and maintain budgeting and forecasting standards.
  • Lead the development of robust budget, forecasting, and planning tools and models to be utilized
  • Lead in the implementation of new tools and techniques to improve budget and planning processes and systems to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Provide management with periodic budget monitoring reports on progress towards targets, latest estimate, highlighting variations, and performing initial checks on reasons for under/over achievement.
  • Coordinate the JV reporting

Qualities & Experience:

  • Minimum of a first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • MBA or Master's in a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as ICAN, CFA, ACCA, or related field
  • Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in hydrocarbon accounting or oil & gas operations
  • 3 of which must have been in a management position in oil and gas or a similar corporation interfacing with the senior management team
  • Sound knowledge of financial analysis
  • Evidence of industry/sector participation
