About the job
The Electrical Technologist role at Ingentia Energies Limited involves maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment used in field operations and power generation. The successful candidate will support electrical engineering activities, ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, oversee installations and maintenance processes, and assist in testing, reporting, and system reliability. Applicants are expected to have a strong background in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspection and preventive maintenance of field electrical installations and electrical panels.
- Maintain field lighting control panels, street lighting systems, and non-explosion-proof lighting fittings.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on cable terminations, earthing systems, and corrosion protection systems.
- Perform maintenance and integrity testing on step-up/step-down transformers and field earth resistance systems.
- Maintain electric motors, water injection unit control panels, automatic water control systems, and submersible pumps.
- Operate and maintain field power generating plants, power transmission/distribution systems, and battery systems.
- Prepare daily equipment inspection checklists, service reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain records of equipment spares, technical data, SOPs, and support electrical budgeting activities.
- Provide electrical engineering support to ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Review electrical design documents, drawings, specifications, and installation procedures for technical adequacy.
- Oversee contractors’ electrical design and installation activities to ensure safety, reliability, operability, and compliance with company standards.
- Conduct electrical testing, interpret wiring/construction drawings, prepare technical reports, and support troubleshooting and corrective actions.
Requirements
- A minimum first degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- An MBA or a Master’s degree in a related discipline is an added advantage.
- Professional membership in a relevant industry association is an advantage (e.g., Member of IEEE or SPE).
- Minimum of 5 years cognate experience in a similar organisation.
